It is all the rage to attempt to define an entire culture through a handful of physical objects. But JFK‘s top hat defining Irish American Culture?
Late last year, the American edition of the British book A History of the World in 100 Objects was published, following a hugely successful exhibition at the British Museum.
Similarly, acclaimed commentator Fintan O’Toole has been telling the history of Ireland in 100 objects, in conjunction with the National Museum of Ireland.
Now, a blogger is creating a list of objects that define “American Irish Culture.” Number seven is John F. Kennedy‘s top hat, now located at the JFK Library in Boston. He wore the chapeau on inauguration day, 1961.
